Jono and Zi have combined their experience, expertise and passions in setting up The HOW Lab. The HOW Lab specialises in curated online learning options to guide people who wish to creatively repackage and convert their skills into new business opportunities from which additional revenue streams may flow. The express objectives of the HOW lab are:
- To efficiently market and deliver services online;
- To collect, collate and share the simplest and most cost-effective online learning options for use by individuals wishing to enter the online services market
- To assist individuals grappling with the requirements of the gig economy and its technological challenges
- To guide and coach people to address specific opportunities in the market in terms of their identified niches
- To sustainably scale business offerings through ongoing fine-tuning, replication, and automation

Meet the team
Zi Channing
Zi’s work experience over 35 years has primarily been in conflict management and dispute resolution systems. She has implemented technology systems to process and track cases in the context of employment and labour disputes in South and southern Africa. Formerly holding roles within the CCMA and positions in the public and private sector, her focus has been on designing systems and project managing a range of human resource, verification and electoral interventions for large scale projects. These experiences have contributed to building facilitation skills and delivering credible outcomes to meet the diverse needs of targeted individuals and interest groups.
Jono Erickson
Jono has over 40 years of operational, corporate and consulting experience in the areas of people and organisational development. He has worked in banking, mining, energy and electronic security sectors in Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, and in other parts of Africa. His exposure to training, organisation design, change management, career and talent management, and mentoring and coaching have equipped him with rich insights for shaping and transitioning people, teams and organisations to higher levels of performance and complexity.
Jono has a BA majoring in Economics and Mathematics (Rhodes) and MBA and MPhil Futures Studies (Stellenbosch Business School).
